Reds Through History: An Unforgettable Baseball Weekend.
Our latest baseball trip tour took us to the home of one of the oldest franchises in all of Major League Baseball: the Cincinnati Reds.
We kicked off the weekend on Friday evening with dinner alongside friends at Buca Di Beppo Italian Restaurant. The food was absolutely amazing with huge portions, and the decor featured an old-school Italian theme with pictures covering the walls. In fact, one unique picture featured a pair of Daisy Dukes positioned right over the head of Cakes2112!
On Saturday morning, we headed to the State Line Restaurant for breakfast. This was a fantastic, nostalgic, off-the-road diner where the food was excellent, making it the perfect spot to spend some quality morning time with friends.
Late morning saw us visiting the grave of the ninth President of the United States, William Henry Harrison, located in North Bend, Ohio. His burial site is a gigantic monument honoring his legacy, and his tomb was beautifully decorated. It was incredible to stand there and remember his massive career; not only was he president, but he also served as a U.S. Senator and Representative from Ohio, the first governor of the Indiana Territory, and a dedicated officer in the United States Army.
By the afternoon, we made our way to Great American Ball Park. With the assistance of David Thiel, we were able to attain approval to stream inside the Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame. The sheer amount of memorabilia in the Hall of Fame was absolutely overwhelming and extremely well done.
The highlight of the trip, however, was that Preston was selected to throw out the first pitch for the game between the Chicago Cubs and the Cincinnati Reds! Preston went down to the field accompanied by David, Mandy, and Pete, where they even got to interact with many of the mascots prior to the big pitch. As for the game itself, the ballpark food was quality, and the energy in the stands was electric from start to finish.
Overall, it is a quality ballpark filled with passionate fans and a rich history that takes you all the way back to the beginning of baseball as we know it today.
It was an unforgettable weekend shared with Keith and Angie Winter, Cakes2112 and Mandy, David and Judy Thiel, Dame Dystopia and her husband Jonathan, Pete, and Preston.
