Disney YouTube Series of Recognition (DYSR) Hall of Fame Voting Process
The Hall of Fame selection process is entirely peer-driven, with official ballots emailed directly to all living inductees to determine the incoming class.
Upon receiving their ballots, voting members are given a strict 30-day window to review candidates, cast their votes, and submit their final selections.
Under its current annual format, the tradition spans the final months of the year, kicking off with the voting period in September.
The process moves from votes to celebration, featuring a highly anticipated Nomination Show in November and culminating in a formal Induction Ceremony in December.
Voting is the exclusive right of inducted members of the DYSR, it is not open to the general public.
Strict rules govern the process: members cannot vote for direct family, public solicitation for votes on social media is strictly prohibited and grounds for disqualification, and Pete McDevitt is currently ineligible for induction due to his oversight role.
To ensure the utmost integrity of the voting process, every submitted vote will trigger an automated dual-notification system.
Upon submission, a verification email will be sent simultaneously to the Oversight Committee and back to the inducted member who cast the vote.
This multi-layered check guarantees that no random or unauthorized votes are processed without the explicit acknowledgment, understanding, and oversight of both the voting member and the committee.
Votes are finalized in October, and in order to be eligible for the November show announcement of received votes, recipients must have two or more nominations.
From these selections, special distinctions are awarded: the Top Male and Female Leaders (revered for their community-minded actions), the Military Recognition (honoring service across the six U.S. military branches), and the Achievement Recognition—meaningfully renamed in 2025 as the Adam The Woo Achievement Recognition to honor his legacy and creativity.
Ultimately, in order to be officially inducted in the December induction show, nominees must finish in the top of the overall received votes.
Initial Voting and The Subsequent Process:
Self-voting has always been strictly prohibited, and a minimum of two votes received is required for eligibility.
For the initial class voting, each channel was allocated seven votes.
While there was no requirement to use all seven votes, no channel could exceed this limit.
Following the voting period, all ballots were received and verified for accuracy by the oversight committee.
The inaugural class was then established by selecting the top 22 recipients based on the highest number of total votes received.
Beginning with Segment Two (featuring the Pixar Class) and extending to all subsequent classes, inducted members of the DYSR shall each be allocated seven (7) votes to execute.
While members are permitted to cast fewer than their allotted seven votes, they strictly may not exceed this limit.
Consistent with the procedures established for the inaugural class, all votes will be tabulated and verified for accuracy, with the top 22 to 24 recipients ultimately selected for induction.
The Disney/YouTube Series of Recognition (DYSR) established its foundation with an inaugural "Muppets" class, where 18 curated quality YouTube channels each submitted seven nominations, resulting in the top 23 channels being tabulated and inducted.
The Voting Ballot:
Voting is completed via a Google Voting Ballot created specifically for the DYSR.
Ballots are distributed via Google Forms every August and must be submitted by the end of September.
The ballot shall comprise the names of all nominees who were previously deemed eligible but not selected in prior events.
Un-inducted nominees remain on the ballot indefinitely for future classes, only being removed in the event of channel inactivity, cancellation, or the creator's passing.
Blank lines are provided for write-in candidates to ensure opportunities for individuals not currently listed on the ballot.
Write-in nominees may only be designated by eligible voting participants.
Members of the general public are not permitted to submit write-in nominations.
To maintain absolute integrity, all ballots meticulously quantified and verified by an oversight committee.
Oversite Committee:
The Oversight Committee is composed of six active members and two alternate members.
The primary mandate of the committee is to jointly come to an agreement on induction class themes, logos, and character selection in advance of each event.
The committee accepted the responsibility of discussing and addressing any operational challenges or concerns brought to its attention, while strictly ensuring that all voting processes remain accurate, transparent, and fair.
Throughout the year, the six active members work diligently as needed to uphold these standards and fulfill their responsibilities.
The two alternate members remain fully engaged and are brought in to participate and vote as needed to ensure continuity and quorum.
