Disney YouTube Series of Recognition (DYSR) Hall of Fame History
The Disney YouTube Series of Recognition (DYSR) Hall of Fame concept officially originated in February 2020 during a backstage conversation prior to Pete being interviewed on Mickey’s Magic YouTube.
Inspired by a Stevesworld YouTube Muppet character countdown, Pete envisioned a positive initiative to celebrate the community's best attributes by pairing members with their favorite Muppet characters.
By April 2020, this idea matured into a formal DYSR Hall of Fame event hosted on the Pete McDevitt Show YouTube Channel.
To preserve its prestige, the event shifted from its initial biannual plan to an annual tradition in 2021.
Each year, no greater than 24 slot placements are inducted based on criteria including but not limited to positive interaction, creativity, generosity, and consistent support, with each class organized around a unique character-pairing theme.
The peer-driven selection process began with 18 distinct channels voting for the inaugural class; in all subsequent years, existing Hall of Fame members vote for the incoming nominees.
Those respected initial channels were Donna Jaworski, Magical News Live, Cory Meets World, Rob Fuz, The Shep Family, Triple PPP Vlogs!, Meyers and the Mouse, ResortTV1, The WDW Couple, The Viapree Project, Zippity Doo Dad, Mickey's Magic, Stevesworld, Dole Whip Dad, Brandy & Dave, Mouse Talk, and LBV-TV.
Notable Points of Importance:
Every inductee receives a sequential induction number—a tradition that began with induction #1, Joey from It’s Joeysworld.
In addition to their induction, each recipient will receive a personalized character tie-in.
The integration of these characters within each segment is designed to honor not only the character itself, but also the creators, animators, artists, voice actors, and writers who brought their performances to life.
In its current format, the annual tradition spans the end of the year: voting occurs across September, followed by a Nomination Show in November, and culminates in a formal Induction Ceremony in December.
Enhancing the prestige of each ceremony are several unique traditions and creative contributions.
To honor each class, custom-numbered buttons signed by Preston McDevitt are created for the inductees, with designs crafted by YouTubers Triple P (class 1-2), DadBuildz (classes 3-9), and Katie Wy (class 10) over the 10 inducted classes.
Furthermore, each ceremony features a creative opening video tied directly to that year's theme, produced by DadBuildz (classes 3-9) and Nick of Nic and Claire (class 10) over the 10 inducted classes.
Across the 10 classes of the DYSR, a total of 29 presenters have participated in the induction ceremony, with 25 of those individuals presenting multiple inductees.
Since its very first class, the DYSR Hall of Fame has been proudly sponsored by Tommy and Claudia of Corner Sports.
Honoring a Pioneer and Legend in the Creator Community:
On December 6, 2025, David Adam Williams—known and beloved worldwide by the YouTube community as Adam the Woo—was inducted into the inaugural Disney Creator Class in recognition of his outstanding achievements and dedication to the community.
Tragically, just weeks later on December 22, 2025, David passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home in Celebration, Florida. David was a true trailblazer.
His adventurous spirit, infectious enthusiasm, and uniquely positive attitude not only entertained millions but also laid the foundational bricks for an entire generation of independent platform creators who followed in his footsteps.
In honor of his pioneering efforts, unwavering positivity, and the undeniable legacy he left behind, it was officially announced on January 26, 2026, that the DYSR Achievement Recognition will officially be renamed the Adam the Woo Achievement Recognition.
Through this honor, David’s impact on the creator community will be remembered permanently, ensuring that future creators are inspired by the same passion, curiosity, and joy that he brought to the world every day.
